The ClineTools Story

ClineTools started from a simple frustration: the gap between the potential of AI coding tools and the difficulty of knowing which ones to trust.

As Claude Code and MCP servers gained momentum, we saw a flood of new tools entering the ecosystem. Some were genuinely transformative. Others were poorly maintained, had glaring security holes, or made promises they could not keep. And for most developers, there was no reliable way to tell the difference without investing hours of investigation.

We set out to solve that problem. We built a systematic security audit process, started testing tools in real production environments, and began documenting everything we learned. What started as personal notes quickly grew into something much larger—a resource that other developers needed just as much as we did.

Today, ClineTools is a growing platform dedicated to curating, verifying, and teaching the best AI development tools. Every tool in our directory has passed our 4-phase security audit. Every tutorial is written from real hands-on experience. And every decision we make is guided by one question: does this make developers safer and more productive?

We actively attempt prompt injection, path traversal, command injection, and data exfiltration to verify the tool's resilience.
